🔔 AI Stocks Close — Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 2:15 PM

Closes: SPX 7,585.73 (-0.45%) · NDX 28,937.84 (-0.65%) · DJI 52,093.11 (-0.63%)
Day narrative: Second straight down day, and it was all about the bond market — the 10-year briefly touched its highest intraday level since 2007, hovering near 5% into the bell. Add Brent above $107 and a Fed decision landing tomorrow, and nobody wanted to carry much risk overnight.

Sectors: Best Energy (+2.2%) · Worst Utilities (-1.2%)

Movers:
• CRWD +3.0% — cybersecurity caught a bid as the AI-risk conversation turned into an AI-security trade; SafeMind and Guardian from Fal.Con still doing work
• AMD +2.2% — AI semis rebounded on commentary that customers are locking in multiyear accelerator deals
• ORCL -3.1% — fresh round of layoffs plus Larry Ellison scrapping a planned $7.5B stock sale; the AI-debt question won't go away
• SMCI -3.0% — Taiwan charged nine people over smuggling high-end AI servers into China, two of them Super Micro employees
• ADBE -3.0% — record quarter, raised guidance, stock keeps bleeding; Goldman's side-by-side with Oracle didn't help
• AMZN -2.0% — said it can't restore access to damaged Middle East data center capacity, and paused operations with 21 Air after the Miami cargo incident

After-hours: Nothing material. A thin post-4:00 tape with essentially every watchlist name pinned within a couple tenths of its close — the market is holding its breath for 2:00 PM ET tomorrow, not for an earnings print.

Watchlist:
• MU $927.60 (+0.39%)
• NVDA $212.17 (+0.57%)
• MSFT $496.91 (-1.68%)
• GOOGL $344.98 (-1.26%)
• META $670.24 (+0.70%)
• AMZN $248.42 (-2.02%)
• AAPL $331.34 (-0.52%)
• AMD $504.20 (+2.19%)
• TSLA $356.69 (-0.64%)
• PLTR $172.58 (-0.42%)
• ARM $241.83 (+1.18%)
• SMCI $35.64 (-3.01%)
• ORCL $140.37 (-3.05%)
• SOUN $6.15 (-4.95%)
• IONQ $37.05 (-1.21%)
• BBAI $2.84 (-1.56%)
• AVGO $339.27 (-1.58%)
• CRM $255.70 (-1.44%)
• ADBE $257.75 (-2.96%)
• IBM $248.40 (-0.28%)
• SNOW $322.94 (-2.83%)
• MDB $377.67 (-1.21%)
• NET $327.11 (-0.98%)
• CRWD $242.54 (+3.04%)
• TSM $413.89 (-0.99%)
• ASML $1,591.94 (+1.07%)

Macro:
• 10-year Treasury yield touched a 2007 high, sitting near 5% at the close — the single biggest weight on the tape
• Brent above $107, WTI above $103.50 on the Saudi East-West pipeline shutdown and continued Houthi attacks in the Red Sea
• FOMC began its two-day meeting; futures price roughly a 93% chance of a 25bp hike Wednesday, which would be the first in over three years
• Bitcoin fell 4% to near $75,000 after the CLARITY Act came up short in the Senate — now likely shelved until after midterms
• AI watch: Dario Amodei's "We Must Pace the Frontier" essay is still rippling through the AI complex; Sam Altman and Elon Musk both publicly backed it. Anthropic and OpenAI remain private — no tradable instrument, but the sentiment transmission is real, and Anthropic's Claudeforce tie-up keeps its name inside Salesforce's story

Tomorrow: Fed day. August retail sales at 8:30 AM ET, then the FOMC decision and Summary of Economic Projections at 2:00 PM ET with Chair Warsh at the podium 30 minutes later. Earnings calendar is thin — this is a macro session, not a tape-reading one.
