OpenAI quietly pulled GPT-4.5 from ChatGPT today, completing the 30-day sunset it announced back in late May and auto-migrating existing conversations to GPT-5.5. Qualcomm is acquiring Silicon Valley AI-software startup Modular — the company founded by Swift and LLVM creator Chris Lattner — in an all-stock deal worth roughly $3.9 billion. The play is the software layer, not silicon: Modular's portable AI stack is aimed squarely at loosening Nvidia's CUDA lock-in as Qualcomm pushes into the data center. It's a steep markup, landing just nine months after Modular raised at a $1.6 billion valuation, and it's expected to close in the second half of 2026.
