🔔 AI Stocks Close — Friday, November 6, 2026 at 2:15 PM

Closes: SPX 7,376.86 (+0.31%) · NDX 24,579.42 (+1.09%) · DJI 51,285.73 (-0.46%)
Day narrative: Dip buyers walked into the wreckage of Thursday's $3 trillion AI rout and bid the chips back up, with semis clawing back roughly two-fifths of what they lost. The Dow couldn't come along for the ride — and even with Friday's bounce, this was the worst week for stocks since early June.

Sectors: Best Technology (+2.0%) · Worst Energy (-12% on the week, the fleet's real casualty)

Movers:
• AMD +11.0% — biggest chip snapback of the day, erasing a chunk of Thursday's 9%+ gash

• CRM -3.9% — acquisition spree (Braze, Cresta, Rune) has investors questioning timing and price

After-hours / Earnings:
• Quiet tape — no major AI names reported after the bell. Movement across the watchlist is sub-1% across the board.

Macro:
• October payrolls came in hot — 165,000 jobs versus a 65–70K consensus; unemployment 4.1% against 4.2% expected; wages +3.1%, finally matching inflation. Treasury yields pushed higher on the print.
• Thursday's selloff was triggered by Democrats' congressional sweep and the read-through for AI and data-center regulation. Friday was the market deciding that panic was overdone, not resolved.
• IPO watch: Anthropic's listing — targeted for the week of November 16, potentially up to $100B raised — is getting marked down. Prospective buyers are now talking $1.1–1.3 trillion versus the $1.5–2 trillion floated before the rout. OpenAI's CFO said Friday the company's still eyeing a 2027 debut and will keep spending on data centers regardless of the election outcome. Neither trades publicly yet.

Tomorrow: Markets are closed over the weekend. Monday kicks off a 169-company earnings week with wholesale trade data, and Tuesday is the one that matters — October CPI, with headline expected at +0.3% month-over-month and core at +0.2%. Cisco, Applied Materials, CoreWeave and Rocket Lab headline the reports. PPI lands Friday.
